Albert Pigeon is servicing a VW 'Beetle', a pre-1953 model with two rear windows. Notice the two ESSO pumps: the one on the left dispenses Esso Extra petrol and the one on the right Diesel. Between them is the window displaying car maintenance products. On the garage door, there is an advertising poster for Michelin tyres , comments Jean-Claude Renier. The Pigeon garage was located at 3 rue Robert Boisacq in Rixensart, near the old Colruyt store. Louis Pigeon bought the building around 1930. Before and during the war, he ran a garage including a taxi-bus company. His son Albert (1919-1995) took over the garage. He was a dealer for the Opel, Chevrolet and DKW brands. From 1960 onwards, the Audi brand became the priority. The demolition of the garage dates back to 1974/1976 .
