Ovaj simpatični genijalac i radoholičar je od 1954. do svoje smrti, 1998. godine stvorio oko 770 jednodjelnih i višedjelnih naslova. Njegov cjelokupni opus sakupljen je i reprintan u 500 tomova. Karijeru je započeo pod mentorstvom velikog Osamua Tezuke, da bi se kasnije proslavio naslovima poput Cyborg 009, Kamen Rider, Skull Man i 009-1. Osim stripovima, bavio se i filmom, televizijom i kazalištem. Ljubiteljima Nathana Nevera će biti zanimljiv zbog podatka da su se Medda, Serra i Vigna dosta inspirirali Ishinomorijevim djelima prilikom nastanka Nathana Nevera.

Njegov cjelokupni opus čini oko 128000 stranica stripa.

Trebalo bi napomenuti da Ishinomori drži rekord po broju naslova, ali njegov opus nije nužno najduži. Osamu Tezuka, njegov mentor, je tijekom života stvorio 150000 stranica stripa. Što je ipak znatno više od Ishinomorijevih 128000.
