The late and legendary (and unbelievably cute) B actress (and former drummer for Joan Jett) Cheryl Rainbeaux Smith shows an impressive amount of lady furrage.
1979 came out of the winter cold like one giant disco storm. Any song that hadn't made it big in 1978 did so in the early months of the last year of the '70s decade. Cheryl Lynn's smash hit was a sleeper that had been released as a single in August 1978, slowly rising in the summer heat, but by January 1979 it came time that everyone woke up to this top dance tune. Yes, it was frequently requested and would be among the greatest disco hits on most playlists, including mine.
In the United States, "Got to Be Real" spent three weeks at #12 on Billboard but peaked at #10 on Cash Box for two weeks on February 3, 1979. On September 19, 2005, "Got to Be Real" was inducted into the Dance Music Hall of Fame.
