Jungle Dance - Sleeze Demons - 1958 - "This is what we were waiting for..." The Diana Nellis Dancers in a sleazy sequence from "She Demons" starring Irish McCalla, Tod Griffen and Victor Sen Yung. The girls are just getting in the mood when who should turn up in the middle of nowhere... the Nazi Gestapo, of course.

The Guess Who - Shakin' All Over (1965) ~ Skeleton Dance
...
The original recording was not a hit outside of Europe. Instead, "Shakin' All Over" gained fame in North America after the Canadian band The Guess Who covered it in early 1965, where it became a #1 hit in Canada, and a #22 hit in the US. The Guess Who had previously been known as "Chad Allan and the Expressions" prior to the release of "Shakin' All Over", but the group's Canadian label (Quality Records) issued the record as by "Guess Who?", in an attempt to imply that the record might be by a British Invasion act -- perhaps even The Beatles. The group subsequently permanently changed their name to The Guess Who, and went on to a long Top 40 career.

I absolutely love this group. They along with young Donald O'Connor and Peggy Ryan seen at the beginning were among the mainstays of the Universal Studios so called "Teen Age Musicals" of the 1940's. It's mostly tap dance with a little Shag thrown in. The dancing's great and so is the background music by Harry James and his band. I for one love this one.

In this Swing Time clip, Lucky, Astaire, saves Penny's, Rogers, job by showing how much she has taught him.
The first true dance number with the two, the other being with Fred fumbling and pretending to be a terrible dancer. Both scenes, however, go to the same song, Pick Yourself Up, this scene without lyrics and much more lively with the other more calm, with lyrics, between the two.
All of these images are from the mid to late 1960's with may favourite subjects of lovely ladies. The camera was usually an M2, 50mm Summicron, 90mm 2.8 Elmarit. Except for the first image, all were shot in Vancouver - usually at the beach, but a couple were in my flat.
The first image is the 1962 frosh queen for the University of Calgary - I was in first year as well at the UofC. The shot is taken at my parents house - with the room tri-lite provide some hair light and a 200 w tungsten bulb for the main shooting Tri-x. The lady was first year frosh queen and was the Calgary contestant for Miss Canada that year and came in second.
