Ronnie James DioIkona hevi metala Roni Džejms Dio, preminuo je jutros oko osam casova, navodi se u saopštenju njegove žene Vendi, na zvanicnom sajtu pevaca.

"Danas mi je srce slomljeno, Roni je preminuo u 7:45 prepododne, 16. maja", napisala je udovica. ,,Mnogi, mnogi prijatelji i porodica uspeli su da se privatno oproste od njega prenego što je mirno preminuo. Roni je znao koliko su ga svi voleli. Cenimo vašu ljubav i podršku koju ste nam svi dali. Molimo vas da nam date nekoliko dana privatnosti da se izborimo sa ovim užasnim gubitkom. Znajte, molim vas, da vas je sve voleo i da ce njegova muzika živeti zauvek".

Dio se lecio od raka, pa je nedavno otkazana i turneja sa bendom Heaven & Hell, ali nije potvrden tacan uzrok smrti.

Roni Džejms Dio roden je 10. jula 1942. godine. Znacajniji deo pevacke karijere zapoceo je sa bendom Elf odakle ga je regrutovao Rici Blekmur ne bi li Dio pevao u Rainbowu. Nakon cetiri studijska albuma Dio napušta Rainbow i 1979. godine u Black Sabbathu zauzima mesto Ozija Ozborna. Kao solo izvodac u periodu od 1983. do 2004. godine objavio je 10 studijska albuma. U bogatoj solo karijeri kao hitovi izdvojile su se pesme poput "Holy Diver", "Rainbow In The Dark", "Rock 'N' Roll Children" i druge.

Ritko ko ce sa 67 godina zvucat ko šta je Dio zvucao.
Bija je medu najboljima, a tamo ce i ostat vjerojatno zauvik.

Po glavi mi se vrti cilo vrime stvar od Black Sabbatha, "Die Young"
Dio je umro mlad, sa 67 godina, ali sa energijom 20-godišnjaka...
