Erotic Comics from the 1940s and 1950s

Permissive adventure with Phantom Lady

Initially dressed in a revealing yellow, then blue swimsuit with green or red cape heroine was invented in character studio of Jerry (Samuel Maxwell)
Iger (1903-1990).

The extremely enterprising comic pioneer operation since the mid-1930s in New York its own so-called comic shop where masses of more or less quality precious
material was produced for various comic-book publisher.

The story of Phantom Lady began in the early 1940s. In the cover with Date August 1941 published the first edition of POLICE COMICS she appeared alongside
other (male) hero like THE FIRE FIRE, THE HUMAN BOMB, THE MOUTH PIECE PLASTIC MAN, and for the first time into the public spotlight. From 1941 to 1943
various artist worked on the series. These included Arthur F. Peddy, Joe Kubert, Frank M. Borth and Rudy Palais.

Until the resurrection of the heroine, it would take a total of four years. It was only in August 1947 launched the Fox Feature Syndicate with the number 13 its
total 11 issues comprehensive series of booklets PHANTOM LADY in the now Matt Baker (1921-1959) is the lead took the drawings.
Although this revival of Jerry Iger was produced, can be seen as a continuation of the former Quality Comics is limited. While the basic framework of the stories
remained the same, but the outfit by Sandra Knight or PHANTOM LADY has been completely redesigned.

A short epilogue finally offered the moved from Ajax / Farrell PHANTOM Lady Series of 1954-55 (four issues, with drawings from the Iger shop)
and the two editions of WONDER BOY (Nos. 17 and 18, 1955), in which the heroine each had to complete a brief appearance.
These stories were based graphical Although the model of Matt Baker, but did not reach more its brilliance.

The Matt Baker covers and stories are among the most sought-after (now also the most expensive) books not only for American fans and collectors.
Above all, the covers are still absolute "eye-catcher"!
