Mario Puretic (1917, born in Croatia in the town of Sumartin on the island of Brac), revolutionarized the technology of pulling out fishing nets from
the sea by his construction of what is now known as the Puretic Power Block in 1950s. Until then fishing nets had to be manually drawn by eight to
ten people, which was an extremely difficult job. The Marco Seattle company developed Puretic's idea, and it soon became a standard mean of fishing
in the whole world. In 1975 the United States Patent Office conferred him a special recognition for his patent which revolutionarized the fishing technology
worldwide. He was elected among hundred greatest inventors of the 20th century in the USA.

Krystyna Skarbek (1915 – 1952)

Krystyna Skarbek was a Polish Special Operations Executive (SOE) agent who became a legend
for her daring exploits in intelligence and sabotage missions to Nazi-occupied Poland and France. She
was a British agent months before the SOE was founded in July 1940. She had been the longest serving
British woman agent during World War II. Because of her exploits, the SOE began recruiting more women
agents into the organization.

During the siege of Masada a group of zealots take two
mysterious red clay jars from the legendary fortress. As
they make their way through Egypt, desert brigands steal
one of the jars. The zealots then bury the other jar, its
existence forgotten until it shows up at a recent Sotheby's
auction where it is bought by wealthy Simon Baldwin.
But he’s not the only one interested in the centuries old mystery.
Mob boss Claymore Stevens wants a piece of the
action. Also curious is historian Norma Marlowe, who knows
about the legend. Norma calls on her friend Cameron Hill to
investigate. But it seems a senator who is forming a modern
day Knights Templar stands in his way.
This forces Cameron to join forces with Marina, a former
girlfriend of mixed repute. Hill finds that hunting down this
legendary, historical artifact may be his toughest case ever.

Hrvatski emigranti na različite su načine i na gotovo svim poljima pridonijeli razvoju i napretku Sjedinjenih Američkih Država. Među
ostalim kao hrabri ratnici istaknuli su se i u američkoj vojsci, za što su odlikovani i najvišim američkim odličjem, Kongresnom medaljom časti.
U gotovo stoljeće i pol, koliko je prošlo otkako je to odličje utemeljeno, među tek malo manje od 3 500 odlikovanih bila su i 22 pripadnika
američke vojske, za koje se sa sigurnošću zna da su hrvatskog podrijetla. Iako je najpoznatiji i u američkim medijima vjerojatno najčešće
spominjaninositelj Medalje časti junak Pearl Harbora Petar Tomić, ništa manje slavan nije bio ni Vjekoslav Lujo Cukela, koji je umro
19. ožujka 1956. Bio je jedan od najodlikovanijih američkih vojnika, a Medalju časti zaslužio je čak dvaput. Što to znači, najbolje pokazuje
podatak prema kojemu je u povijesti SAD-a samo 19 pripadnika oružanih snaga dobila dvije takve medalje.

Taj junak hrvatskog podrijetla rođen je 1888. u Splitu kao Vjekoslav Lujo Čukela. Školovao se u Splitu, a u Sjedinjene Države emigrirao
je 1913. Ondje je odslužio vojsku, a kada je SAD ušao u Prvi svjetski rat, priključio se marincima. Ubrzo je postao dočasnik, a 1918. poslan
je na bojište u Francuskoj. Ondje je za iskazanu hrabrost u borbama kod Villers-Cotteretsa tijekom bitke za Soissons odlikovan čak dvjema
Medaljama časti. Uz jednu mornaričku i drugu za kopnenu vojsku, odlikovan je i mnogobrojnim stranim odličjima. Dvaput je lakše ranjen, te
je stekao časnički čin. Nakon rata Lujo Cukela s marincima je služio u mnogim garnizonima diljem svijeta. S gotovo 32 godine službe umirovljen
je kao bojnik. Uz pune vojne počasti pokopan je na nacionalnome groblju Arlington među američkim velikanima. Iako su ga za života s obzirom
na podrijetlo nazivali »Austrijancem, Slavenom, Jugoslavenom, Srbinom i Hrvatom«, Lujo Cukela najviše je volio da ga zovu američkim marincem.
