Kupio sam ovaj strip u ponedjeljak, jos ga nisam poceo citati, cekam da imam dovoljno vremena, jer imam osjecaj da kad pocnem, necu prestati dok ga ne zavrsim (a podebeo je - preko 300 strana!).
Ovaj Richard Piers Rayner je fenomenalan crtac. Kao da gledas stare fotografije. Talenat izbija sa svake slicice.
 
Richard Piers Rayner entered the professional comics world in 1988. He started out illustrating several series for DC Comics and Marvel Comics, such as 'Hellblazer', 'Swamp Thing', 'L.E.G.I.O.N.', 'Dr Fate' and 'Dr Who'. He is also a frequent contributor to the publications of Paradox Press. Rayner's style is characterized by his great sense for details. Richard Rayner's most notable work is 'Road to Perdition', written by Max Allan Collins. He worked on this comic for four years. The comic was adapted into a movie by Sam Mendes, starring Tom Hanks and Paul Newman, in 2002.
Road to Perdition is out at cinemas this week. But it started life on paper.
Despite the casting of cuddly Tom Hanks in Sam Mendes’ mobster movie Road To Perdition, hitman Michael Sullivan is a pretty bad man. Even more so in the original graphic novel.
According to its writer, Max Allan Collins, Road To Perdition is “an unabashed homage” to Lone Wolf And Cub, a manga graphic novel by Kazuo Koike and Goseki Kojima about a samurai executioner who, wronged by his shogun master, kills his way across Japan with his young son in a pram. Collins also built on elements from the life of 30s mob boss, and Capone-ally, John Looney who had betrayed one of his lieutenants.
Collins, writer of true-crime novels Dick Tracy and Batman, created a detailed period tale of revenge and paternal love. With artwork painstakingly created over four years by Briton Richard Piers Rayner, Road To Perdition is a gem of latter-day pulp fiction, its murderous anti-hero a darned site harder than Hanks will ever be.
Rock Island, Illinois - 1929. Michael O'Sullivan is a good father and a family man - and also the chief enforcer for John Looney, the town's Irish Godfather of crime. U jednoj knjizari gdje prodaju nove knjige koje nisu mogle biti prodate u drugim knjizarama. Tamo ponekad jeftino kupim relatino nove stripove.
