Two new SF series from Leo in 2022
The lovers of sf comic maker Leo will be spoiled extra in 2022. The sequel to Europa , the continuation of Centaurus , in collaboration with Rodolphe and artist Zoran Janjetov , is certainly to be expected. These series appear in translation by Silvester . In early 2022, part 1 of Scotland should also be released with Dargaud . This is the fourth cycle with the heroine Kathy Austin Kenya , Namibia and Amazonia , drawn by Bertrand Marchal and again with Rodolphe as co-screenwriter.
In January, the first part of French Neptune will be published in by Dargaud. That's a new cycle in The Worlds of Aldebaran . The now 76-year-old author no longer wants to draw longer cycles of five to six parts. That was already the case for the cycle, Antares which he told in three slightly thicker parts. Neptune will be even shorter, because that will be a diptych of twice 64 pages. He also changed tools in the meantime, because Neptune is his first album that he made entirely on the computer. Quite a challenge for the very elderly Brazilian.
And then something completely new, Demain ( Morgen ) will be published by the French publishing house Delcourt , which also publishes the French version of Centaurus and Europa . Again with Rodolphe as co-screenwriter, he wrote this new series for artist sci-fi Louis Alloing . That's the artist of the comic biography The Jacobs Sign about Blake and Mortimer creator Edgar P. Jacobs . You may also know him from the espionage series Robert Sax that at INdruk appears . Both are written by Rodolphe. Part 1 of Demain has 56 pages. According to the synopsis, the story is set in the 1950s, but in a post-apocalyptic world. Joe discovers a strange, large and dark passage in an old abandoned house. Elsewhere, Fleur has to flee with her father from ever-growing gangs. For the two youngsters from very different worlds, everything seems to be separate for each other, but they find each other in their dreams... |

Bruce J. Hawker goes back into the water
This picture was Christophe Bec today that the maritime series Bruce J. Hawker of William Vance is making a comeback at Le Lombard . Bec is the new screenwriter for the first of a brand new diptych with the French titles L'Œil du Marais ( The Eye of the Swamp ) and La Croix de Cross ( The Cross of Cross ), in which the British hero crosses the Atlantic Ocean. Bec is also already the scriptwriter of a brand new adventure by Bob Morane (also once drawn by Vance) that will be released in French with in September Soleil . Vance's other comic series Bruno Brazil also made a comeback a few years ago. Its existence is now led by the authors Philippe Aymond and Laurent-Frédéric Bollée and has already produced a diptych.
The Spaniard Carlos Puerta is the new artist of Bruce J. Hawker . Publisher Prestige translated his one-shots Het Huis in Pollack Street and No Man's Land . He is also the draftsman of the by Dupuis aviation trilogy published De Rode Baron, which was . A fact, in 1990 he typed some Spanish translations of Henk Kuijpers ' Franka .
The contract with Le Lombard has only just been signed. The release of the first album will take some time, but it can probably be expected next year.

Tarzan 1
After the rights to Tarzan, a creation of Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875-1950), into the public domain a few years ago, Christophe Bec was fell offered to strip the original Tarzan legend book. Bec has known Tarzan through and through since his childhood and the many films, novels and especially comics he took in. He took many of them again for the setting up of this diptych. The film Greystoke (1984), starring Christopher Lambert , has influenced him the most.
The dark part 1 is drawn by Stevan Subic and is a complete story after the original first novel from 1912. Part 2 is more light-hearted and can be read more like a pulp story. It's based on Edgar Rice Burrough's The Return of Tarzan 1913 and 's Tarzan at the Earth's Core 1930 , in which Tarzan finds himself in a prehistoric world. Burroughs himself wrote 24 Tarzan novels. That second album is largely signed by Roberto de la Torre . The last third of the album is drawn by Bec's loyal drawing buddy Stefano Raffaele .
The presentation of part 1: "Nineteenth century. Lord John and Lady Alice Greystoke have left England and are stranded after a shipwreck on the coast of Equatorial Africa. Not much later Alice gives birth to a son. After the death of his parents, he is raised by a group of monkeys. Young Tarzan will be torn between the harsh life of the wilderness and his British aristocratic parentage..."
This album also comes out as a 16-page deluxe deluxe with cloth spine, dust jacket, sketch file, an ex-libris signed by Stevan Subic. The edition is 100 numbered copies. |

On November 3 , a true cluster bomb in the western genre will be released by the French publishing house Bamboo . We can assure you right away that Saga Editions will translate this. It worked Tiburce Oger , himself the author of western comics like The Path of the Shades , Ghost Kid and Buffalo Runner , namely to convince sixteen animators in the genre to the 112 pages it work's constituent album.
Oger wrote fourteen short stories depicting the conquest of the Far West from 1763 to 1938. With conflicts that take place from the great lakes to the desert of Mexico. About trappers, pioneers, Native American tribes, desperados and prostitutes who each have to survive on vast prairies, in mining towns or during seemingly endless wars. The great western themes are discussed, but also the dark side of people. Songs who try to make the American Dream come true with a bitter aftertaste. Racism, Indian genocide, the situation of women, war and misery. Go West Young Man wants to pay homage to the western as well as an unambiguous tribute.
The artists are truly the cream of the crop. Each artist has his own western comic or series to his name, some of which are considered classics in the genre. In brackets we list their western titles.

On the right is the cover of the French deluxe edition, drawn by Paul Gastine, with eight bonus pages. That luxury costs 29.90 euros. What the plans of Saga Editions are for possible various versions, is not yet a foregone conclusion. It will not appear in Dutch until next year. In the French-language documentary at the bottom of this post you can see a lot of foretaste.

The one-shot on 6 October Les Vacances de Donald will be released at Glénat . It is the work of the duo Federico Bertolucci and Frédéric Brrémaud who have already shown very good work in their textless animal series Love . Their Donald Duck album is also textless. It is one big tribute to and a nod to the beautiful Disney cartoons from the 1950s. Donald wants to escape the noisy city and goes into nature in search of peace. Only bad luck haunts him there too, because he makes all sorts of things that get on his nerves.
Les Vacances de Donald appears in the series of tributes to Disney characters by comic book makers such as Régis Loisel , Cosey , Niolas Keramidas and Lewis Trondheim , Pieter de Poortere , Silvio Camboni and Denis-Pierre Filippi , Alexis Nesme , Tebo and others who have meanwhile come for a beautiful collection. Unfortunately, the translation has stalled. In the case of the textless Les Vancances de Donald , we can object less. The album costs 15 euros |
